The Netherlands is an appealing destination for many Ukrainian visitors, thanks to its famous canals, tulip fields, windmills, and historic cities. The country's mix of urban sophistication and rustic charm draws millions of tourists annually. Given that 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad each year, a portion may find the Netherlands particularly attractive.
The Netherlands is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Ukraine. It ranks 9th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. According to the Global Peace Index, the Netherlands is the 18th safest country out of 160, significantly safer than Ukraine, which ranks 156th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in the Netherlands is notably low at 0.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's rate of 3.8. Additionally, the Netherlands scores better in various organized crime indices, indicating lower levels of mafia influence and state crime. Overall, while no place is entirely free from risk, tourists from Ukraine can expect a relatively safe environment in the Netherlands.
