The Netherlands is an appealing destination for some Saudi visitors, known for its picturesque canals, tulip fields, windmills, and historic cities. With 4.8 million Saudis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find the country's blend of urban sophistication and rustic charm attractive for their travels.
The Netherlands is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia. It ranks 9th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. According to the Global Peace Index, the Netherlands is the 18th safest country out of 160 worldwide, significantly safer than Saudi Arabia, which ranks 100th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rates are similar, with Saudi Arabia at 0.8 per 100,000 people and the Netherlands at 0.7. However, the Netherlands has lower indices for organized crime, indicating a safer environment in various categories, such as state crime (Netherlands 2.5 vs. Saudi Arabia 8.0) and human trafficking (Netherlands 5.5 vs. Saudi Arabia 8.5). Overall, while no place is without risks, the Netherlands offers a safer experience for tourists compared to Saudi Arabia.
