Nigeria is an intriguing destination for visitors from Zambia, offering a rich cultural experience and beautiful landscapes. However, it currently attracts a moderate number of tourists, appealing primarily to a segment of Zambia's 20 million population.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists coming from Zambia. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Zambia's ranking of 55th. The murder rate in Nigeria is notably higher at 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Zambia's 5.4. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Nigeria faces more challenges with organized crime, with indices reflecting a higher prevalence of crime networks (9.0 for Nigeria vs. 5.0 for Zambia) and state crime (7.5 for Nigeria vs. 6.0 for Zambia). Other areas such as human trafficking, arms trafficking, and drug trade also show Nigeria scoring worse than Zambia. In summary, while tourism is possible in Nigeria, visitors should exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions.
