Nigeria offers a unique blend of vibrant culture and stunning landscapes, making it a potentially appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. While the overall tourist arrivals are moderate, a portion of the 2.7 million Turks who travel abroad annually may find Nigeria intriguing enough to visit.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, indicating a higher level of insecurity compared to Türkiye, which ranks 137th. In terms of crime rates, Türkiye has a significantly lower murder rate of 2.5 per 100,000 people, while Nigeria's rate is notably higher at 22.0. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index highlights that Nigeria faces challenges with crime networks and organized crime, scoring lower than Türkiye in several categories. Overall, while Nigeria has many attractions, tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions and safety measures.
