Nigeria is an appealing destination for a segment of Kenya's 54 million population, thanks to its vibrant culture and beautiful landscapes. However, it currently experiences a moderate level of tourist arrivals, indicating that while it has potential, it may not be a top choice for all Kenyan visitors.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly those coming from Kenya. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, indicating a less safe environment compared to Kenya, which ranks 120th. Crime statistics reveal a significant difference in murder rates, with Nigeria at 22.0 per 100,000 people compared to Kenya's 5.3. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Nigeria has higher scores in several crime categories, indicating more severe issues with organized crime and state crime compared to Kenya. Overall, while tourism is possible in Nigeria, travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions and safety measures.
