Kenya is an appealing destination for some Nigerians, offering a unique mix of natural beauty and cultural experiences. With nearly 3,000 accommodations available, it provides a variety of lodging options to cater to different preferences. Despite recent fluctuations in tourist arrivals, its vast savannahs and exotic wildlife continue to attract visitors.
Kenya is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Nigeria, based on various safety metrics. According to the Global Peace Index, Kenya ranks 120th out of 160 countries, whereas Nigeria ranks 144th. In terms of homicide rates, Kenya has a significantly lower murder rate of 5.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Nigeria's 22.0. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that while both countries face challenges with organized crime, Kenya's scores are generally better than Nigeria's across several categories. For example, Kenya scores 7.0 for mafia groups and 7.5 for crime networks, while Nigeria scores 5.5 and 9.0, respectively. Overall, while no destination is without risks, tourists from Nigeria may find Kenya to be a relatively safer option for travel.
