Nigeria offers a vibrant and diverse experience for tourists, showcasing rich culture and beautiful landscapes. However, it currently attracts a moderate number of visitors. Among the 4.4 million Hungarians who travel abroad annually, some may find Nigeria to be an appealing destination.
Nigeria poses significant safety concerns for tourists compared to Hungary. While Hungary ranks 16th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, Nigeria is ranked 144th out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index. The murder rate in Hungary is notably low at 0.8 per 100,000 people, while Nigeria's rate is alarmingly high at 22.0. Additionally, Hungary scores well on the Global Organized Crime Index, with mafia groups rated at 1.0 and crime networks at 4.0. In contrast, Nigeria has higher indices, such as 5.5 for mafia groups and 9.0 for crime networks, indicating a more dangerous environment. Overall, tourists from Hungary should exercise caution and thoroughly research safety conditions before traveling to Nigeria.
