Nigeria is an appealing destination for some of Angola's 36 million residents, thanks to its vibrant culture and beautiful landscapes. However, it currently experiences a moderate level of tourist arrivals.
Nigeria presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Angola. According to the Global Peace Index, Nigeria ranks 144th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower level of safety than Angola, which ranks 70th. In terms of crime statistics, Nigeria has a significantly higher murder rate of 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Angola's 4.8. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights various crime issues, with Nigeria scoring worse than Angola in several categories, including crime networks (Nigeria: 9.0, Angola: 5.5) and human trafficking (Nigeria: 7.5, Angola: 6.0). Overall, while many tourists visit Nigeria without incident, it is advisable for travelers from Angola to exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
