Mozambique offers a unique appeal for Belgian travelers, featuring beautiful coastlines along the Indian Ocean and a rich blend of culture and natural beauty. While it attracts a relatively small number of international visitors, its distinct offerings could attract some of the 8.6 million Belgians who travel abroad annually.
Mozambique presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Belgium. While Belgium ranks 16th in the Global Peace Index and has a low murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, Mozambique is ranked 106th and has a higher murder rate of 3.5 per 100,000 people. Additionally, crime indices indicate that organized crime is more prevalent in Mozambique, with higher scores in areas such as crime networks (8.0) and state crime (9.0), compared to Belgium's lower scores (4.5 and 2.0, respectively). Overall, while many tourists visit Mozambique, it is advisable for travelers from Belgium to exercise caution, stay informed about local conditions, and take necessary safety precautions.
