Belgium is an appealing destination for some of the 33 million people in Mozambique, thanks to its rich cultural heritage, architectural wonders, and vibrant cities like Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp. Its historical significance and contemporary attractions contribute to its allure as a tourist hotspot.
Belgium is generally considered safe for tourists, including those coming from Mozambique. According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium ranks 16th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, while Mozambique ranks 106th. In terms of murder rates, Belgium has a significantly lower rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Mozambique's 3.5. However, Belgium is ranked 39th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, which suggests some concerns in urban areas. The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Belgium has lower indices for organized crime compared to Mozambique, particularly in areas such as state crime and mafia presence. Overall, while Belgium is safer than Mozambique, tourists should remain vigilant, especially in certain areas during nighttime.
