Malaysia offers a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage, positioning it as an appealing destination for Turkish travelers. Although international visitor numbers are currently modest, ongoing infrastructure improvements and a variety of attractions indicate strong growth potential. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, a segment of them may find Malaysia an enticing option.
Malaysia is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to the Global Peace Index, Malaysia ranks 10th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety compared to Türkiye, which ranks 137th. In terms of crime statistics, Malaysia has a lower murder rate of 0.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Türkiye's 2.5. Additionally, organized crime indices show that Malaysia scores better in several categories, such as mafia groups and arms trafficking. While Türkiye ranks higher in safety while walking alone at night, the overall crime and safety indicators suggest that Malaysia is a safer destination for tourists.
