Myanmar offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Egyptians. As tourism plays a vital role in Myanmar's economy, it presents unique opportunities that could attract a segment of Egypt's 111 million population.
Myanmar is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Egypt. According to the Global Peace Index, Myanmar ranks 145th out of 160 countries, while Egypt ranks 103rd. The murder rate in Myanmar is significantly higher at 28.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Egypt's 2.6. Additionally, crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index indicate that Myanmar faces more severe organized crime issues, with a mafia group index of 9.0 and a crime network index of 7.5, compared to Egypt's 3.0 and 5.5, respectively. Overall, travelers from Egypt should exercise caution when considering a visit to Myanmar due to these safety concerns.
