Montenegro is an appealing destination for Ukrainian visitors, thanks to its beautiful Adriatic coastline and mountainous landscapes. As a significant player in international tourism, it contributes notably to the country's economy. With 11 million Ukrainians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Montenegro an attractive option for their travels.
Montenegro is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Ukraine. It ranks 10th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, although specific data for Ukraine is not available. According to the Global Peace Index, Montenegro is ranked 35th out of 160 countries, making it significantly safer than Ukraine, which ranks 156th. In terms of crime statistics, Montenegro has a lower murder rate of 2.4 per 100,000 people compared to Ukraine's 3.8. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in Montenegro (0.6) than in Ukraine (1.9). While both countries face challenges with organized crime, Montenegro generally has better indices in several categories, such as human trafficking (4.5 in Montenegro vs. 7.0 in Ukraine) and resource crime (3.5 vs. 7.0). Overall, tourists from Ukraine can feel relatively safe when visiting Montenegro, but as with any travel, it is advisable to remain vigilant and informed about local conditions.
