Lithuania presents a unique appeal for a segment of Nigeria's 219 million population, showcasing a vibrant culture and diverse attractions. While it may not attract the same volume of tourists as larger European destinations, it offers distinctive experiences that could entice Nigerian visitors.
Lithuania is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Nigeria. It ranks 31st out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, indicating a relatively high level of safety compared to Nigeria, which ranks 144th. In terms of crime statistics, Lithuania has a significantly lower murder rate of 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Nigeria's 22.0. Additionally, organized crime indices show that Lithuania performs better across various categories, such as mafia groups (3.5 in Lithuania vs. 5.5 in Nigeria) and human trafficking (3.5 in Lithuania vs. 7.5 in Nigeria). While Lithuania is ranked 24th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, the overall data suggests that it is a much safer environment for tourists compared to Nigeria. Visitors should still exercise standard travel precautions, as in any country.
