Liberia is an emerging destination in West Africa that is starting to attract international interest, including from Egyptians. Although tourism revenue is currently modest, the country offers unique opportunities for cultural exchange, making it appealing to a segment of Egypt's 111 million population.
Liberia is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, ranking 67th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, which is better than Egypt's ranking of 103rd. However, it's important to note that the murder rate in Liberia is slightly higher at 3.3 per 100,000 people compared to Egypt's 2.6. In terms of organized crime, both countries have similar scores for mafia groups (3.0), but Liberia has higher scores for crime networks (6.0) and several other categories, indicating some challenges. Overall, while Liberia may be safer than Egypt in certain aspects, travelers should remain vigilant and informed about local conditions.
