Italy is an appealing destination for many Egyptians due to its rich history, culture, and iconic cities like Rome, Venice, and Florence. With millions of international visitors each year, it offers a unique experience that could attract a significant portion of Egypt's 111 million population.
Italy is generally considered safe for tourists, including those coming from Egypt. According to the Global Peace Index, Italy ranks 33rd out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety compared to Egypt, which ranks 103rd. In terms of crime statistics, Italy has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Egypt's 2.6. Additionally, while Italy faces challenges with organized crime, it is ranked lower in terms of overall crime indices compared to Egypt in several categories. However, Italy is ranked 34th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, suggesting that caution is still advisable, particularly in certain areas. Overall, tourists from Egypt can expect a safer environment in Italy, but should remain aware of their surroundings and exercise standard travel precautions.
