India offers a rich blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern amenities, making it an appealing destination for some of Ethiopia's 123 million residents. The country's popularity among foreign visitors highlights its potential to attract Ethiopian tourists interested in exploring its historic landmarks and diverse ecosystems.
India is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Ethiopia. According to the Global Peace Index, India is ranked 114th out of 160 countries, which is better than Ethiopia's ranking of 142nd. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in India is significantly lower at 2.9 per 100,000 people compared to Ethiopia's 8.8. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in India at 2.5. When looking at organized crime, India has a slightly higher index for mafia groups (3.5) compared to Ethiopia (2.0), but overall, the crime networks and state crime indices are comparable, with Ethiopia scoring higher in some areas. While there are challenges related to crime in both countries, the data suggests that India is a safer destination for tourists than Ethiopia.
