Ireland boasts captivating landscapes and a rich cultural heritage, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. Its lush countryside, historic sites, and unique Irish culture attract millions annually. For a segment of Ethiopia's 123 million population, Ireland presents an intriguing travel option.
Ireland is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Ethiopia. According to the Global Peace Index, Ireland ranks 2nd out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. In contrast, Ethiopia ranks 142nd on the same index. When looking at crime statistics, Ireland has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Ethiopia's rate of 8.8. Additionally, various organized crime indices suggest that while both countries face challenges, Ireland has a more favorable score in terms of organized crime and safety. However, it's worth noting that Ireland ranks 35th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, which suggests that caution is still advisable in certain areas. Overall, tourists from Ethiopia can expect a safer environment in Ireland compared to their home country.
