Haiti offers a unique appeal for Colombian travelers, thanks to its vibrant culture and rich history. Although foreign tourist arrivals have stabilized in recent years, there remains potential for attracting Colombian visitors. With approximately 3 million Colombians traveling abroad annually, a segment of this population may find Haiti an intriguing destination.
Haiti is currently considered a challenging destination for tourists, including those from Colombia. According to the Global Peace Index, Haiti ranks 141st out of 160 countries, while Colombia is slightly better at 143rd. In terms of crime statistics, Haiti has a murder rate of 13.0 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Colombia's rate of 27.5. However, both countries face significant issues with organized crime, with Haiti scoring 8.0 for mafia groups and 6.0 for crime networks, compared to Colombia's scores of 9.5 and 9.0, respectively. Overall, while Haiti's murder rate is lower, the presence of organized crime and the overall safety rankings suggest caution for tourists. Travelers should stay informed and take necessary precautions if considering a visit to Haiti.
