France is a top global tourism destination, attracting millions of visitors annually due to its vibrant and diverse appeal. For a portion of the one million Maldivians, France could be an intriguing travel option.
France is generally considered safe for tourists, although it does have some crime concerns. According to safety rankings, France is 40th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. The Global Peace Index places France at 84th among 160 countries worldwide. In terms of murder rates, France has a rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to the Maldives' lower rate of 0.6. Additionally, while both countries face organized crime, France has higher indices in areas like foreign crime and drug trafficking, indicating more significant challenges in these areas. Overall, while France has its safety issues, it remains a popular destination for tourists, including those from the Maldives. Visitors should exercise standard precautions, as they would in any major city.
