Frequently asked questions

How attractive is Ethiopia as a destination for visitors from Iran?

Ethiopia offers a unique blend of rich culture and historical landmarks, making it an appealing destination for some Iranian travelers. With 1.6 million Iranians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ethiopia's cultural and adventure tourism enticing.

Please answer the following question: How safe is Ethiopia for tourists coming from Iran?

Ethiopia's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Iran, is a concern. According to the Global Peace Index, Ethiopia is ranked 142nd out of 160 countries, which is lower than Iran's ranking of 131st. The murder rate in Ethiopia is significantly higher at 8.8 per 100,000 people compared to Iran's 2.2. In terms of organized crime, Ethiopia has a lower score in mafia groups (2.0) compared to Iran (7.0), indicating less organized crime presence. However, other crime indices show that Ethiopia has higher risks in areas such as foreign crime (6.0) and human trafficking (6.0) compared to Iran. Overall, while Ethiopia has some aspects that may be less concerning than Iran, the higher murder rate and certain crime indices suggest that tourists should exercise caution when traveling to Ethiopia.
