Egypt is an appealing destination for many travelers, including Ukrainians. With a rich history and cultural significance, it attracts millions of visitors annually. Although the tourism sector has faced fluctuations, it remains crucial to Egypt's economy. Given that 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad each year, a portion of them may find Egypt an intriguing choice for their travels.
Egypt is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Ukraine. According to the Global Peace Index, Egypt ranks 103rd out of 160 countries, while Ukraine is ranked 156th. In terms of murder rates, Egypt has a lower rate at 2.6 per 100,000 people compared to Ukraine's 3.8. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in Egypt (0.5) than in Ukraine (1.9). When looking at organized crime, Egypt scores better in several categories: mafia groups (Egypt 3.0 vs. Ukraine 6.0), crime networks (Egypt 5.5 vs. Ukraine 7.0), and human trafficking (Egypt 5.5 vs. Ukraine 7.0). However, both countries have similar scores for state crime (8.0). Overall, while no destination is without risks, Egypt presents a relatively safer environment for tourists coming from Ukraine.
