Egypt is an appealing destination for many Tunisians, given its rich history and cultural significance. With around 700,000 Tunisians traveling abroad annually, a portion of this group may find Egypt particularly attractive for its unique offerings and opportunities for cultural exchange.
Egypt's safety for tourists, including those from Tunisia, is a complex issue. According to the Global Peace Index, Egypt ranks 103rd out of 160 countries, which indicates a lower level of safety compared to Tunisia, which ranks 72nd. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Egypt is 2.6 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Tunisia's rate of 4.8. However, the indices for organized crime suggest that Egypt faces more significant challenges, particularly in state crime (8.0 in Egypt vs. 5.5 in Tunisia) and human trafficking (5.5 in Egypt vs. 4.0 in Tunisia). Overall, while Egypt has a lower murder rate, it has higher levels of organized crime and state-related issues. Tourists should remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings when traveling to Egypt.
