Egypt is an appealing destination for some of the 13 million people in Burundi, thanks to its rich history and cultural significance. Despite recent fluctuations in its tourism sector, Egypt continues to attract millions of visitors annually, offering opportunities for cultural exchange and exploration.
Egypt is relatively safe for tourists coming from Burundi. According to the Global Peace Index, Egypt ranks 103rd out of 160 countries, which is better than Burundi's ranking of 127th. The murder rate in Egypt is lower, at 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Burundi's 6.1. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in Egypt (0.5) than in Burundi (2.3). In terms of organized crime, Egypt has a higher score than Burundi in some areas but remains safer overall. For example, while both countries face challenges with crime, Egypt's indices for mafia groups (3.0) and state crime (8.0) indicate a less severe situation compared to Burundi's (1.0 and 9.0, respectively). Overall, while both countries have their issues, Egypt presents a safer environment for tourists compared to Burundi.
