Cyprus offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and strategic location in the Mediterranean, making it an appealing destination for some of Myanmar's 54 million Bamar people. Its rich tourism dynamics and potential for cultural exchange could attract a segment of visitors from Myanmar.
Cyprus is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Myanmar. It ranks 11th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. According to the Global Peace Index, Cyprus is ranked 86th out of 160 countries, which is significantly safer than Myanmar, ranked 145th. Crime statistics further illustrate this safety disparity: Cyprus has a murder rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Myanmar's 28.4. Additionally, various organized crime indices show that Cyprus has lower scores across multiple categories, indicating less organized crime and violence compared to Myanmar. Overall, tourists from Myanmar can expect a safer environment in Cyprus.
