Cyprus is an appealing destination for some Jordanian travelers due to its rich cultural heritage and strategic location in the Mediterranean. With around 800,000 Jordanians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Cyprus an attractive option for their travels.
Cyprus is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Jordan. It ranks 11th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, although specific data for Jordan is not available. According to the Global Peace Index, Cyprus is ranked 86th out of 160 countries, which is less favorable compared to Jordan's rank of 65th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Cyprus is 1.3 per 100,000 people, slightly higher than Jordan's rate of 1.0. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with Jordan at 0.6 and Cyprus at 1.1. Regarding organized crime, Jordan generally scores better than Cyprus in several categories. For instance, Jordan has a mafia group index of 1.5 compared to Cyprus's 3.5, indicating a lower presence of mafia groups. However, Cyprus has a lower score for arms trafficking (2.5) compared to Jordan (6.5). Overall, while both countries have their safety challenges, Cyprus remains a popular destination for tourists and is relatively safe for visitors from Jordan.
