China offers a compelling mix of modern infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and varied natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Saudi visitors. With 4.8 million Saudis traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find China an intriguing option despite fluctuations in tourist trends.
China is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia. According to the Global Peace Index, China ranks 87th out of 160 countries, which is safer than Saudi Arabia, ranked 100th. In terms of murder rates, China has a lower rate at 0.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Saudi Arabia's 0.8. However, when looking at organized crime, China has higher indices in certain areas, such as mafia groups (7.0) and crime networks (7.5), compared to Saudi Arabia (3.0 and 6.5, respectively). Overall, while there are some concerns regarding organized crime in China, it remains a relatively safe destination for tourists from Saudi Arabia.
