China offers a compelling mix of modern infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and diverse natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Kazakh visitors. With 3.5 million Kazakhstanis traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may be drawn to explore what China has to offer, despite varying trends in tourist arrivals.
China is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Kazakhstan, but it ranks lower in safety compared to Kazakhstan. According to the Global Peace Index, China is ranked 87th out of 160 countries, while Kazakhstan is 57th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in China is significantly lower at 0.5 per 100,000 people compared to Kazakhstan's 3.2. However, organized crime indices indicate that China has higher levels of organized crime activity, with scores of 7.0 for mafia groups and 7.5 for crime networks, compared to Kazakhstan's 3.5 and 4.0, respectively. While tourists may find China relatively safe, they should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions, as the organized crime situation is more pronounced than in Kazakhstan.
