Côte d'Ivoire offers a diverse range of tourism attractions, combining vibrant cultural sites with beautiful natural landscapes. This unique blend of heritage and biodiversity makes it an appealing destination for a segment of Cameroon’s 28 million population.
Côte d'Ivoire is relatively safe for tourists compared to Cameroon. According to the Global Peace Index, Côte d'Ivoire ranks 107th out of 160 countries, while Cameroon is ranked 135th. Although specific murder rates for Côte d'Ivoire are not available, Cameroon has a murder rate of 4.5 per 100,000 people. In terms of organized crime, Côte d'Ivoire generally has lower indices than Cameroon in several categories. For example, mafia groups are rated 3.0 in Côte d'Ivoire compared to 4.0 in Cameroon. While both countries face challenges with crime networks and state crime, Côte d'Ivoire's scores suggest a slightly safer environment for visitors. Overall, while no destination is without risk, Côte d'Ivoire presents a safer option for tourists coming from Cameroon.
