Canada offers a blend of cultural charm and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some of Haiti's 12 million residents. Although there has been a recent decline in tourist arrivals, Canada still attracts millions of international visitors annually.
Canada is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Haiti. According to the Global Peace Index, Canada ranks 11th out of 160 countries, making it one of the safest countries in the world, especially when compared to Haiti, which ranks 141st. In terms of crime statistics, Canada has a significantly lower murder rate, with 2.1 murders per 100,000 people, compared to Haiti's 13.0. The rates of female murders also reflect this disparity, with Canada at 1.0 and Haiti at 1.9. Furthermore, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Canada has lower scores in various crime categories, such as organized crime and human trafficking, suggesting a safer environment. For example, Canada scores 2.0 for state crime, while Haiti scores 7.0. Overall, tourists from Haiti can expect a safer experience in Canada, supported by these crime statistics and global safety rankings.
