Belize offers a unique appeal for a segment of Haiti's 12 million population, featuring a vibrant tourism scene that highlights its natural beauty and cultural experiences. While it attracts a limited number of foreign visitors each year, it stands out as an attractive destination for those seeking close connections with nature and local culture.
Belize has a higher murder rate compared to Haiti, with Belize at 31.2 per 100,000 people and Haiti at 13.0. Additionally, Belize faces challenges with organized crime, reflected in its Global Organized Crime Index scores, which indicate a higher level of crime networks and state crime compared to Haiti. While Belize offers beautiful tourist destinations, travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions. It is advisable for tourists from Haiti and elsewhere to take standard safety precautions, such as avoiding risky areas, traveling in groups, and staying updated on local news.
