Belarus offers a blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty that can appeal to some Lithuanian travelers. With around 700,000 Lithuanians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Belarus an intriguing destination to explore.
Belarus presents certain safety concerns for tourists coming from Lithuania. According to safety rankings, Belarus is 38th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, compared to Lithuania's 24th position. The Global Peace Index also reflects this, with Belarus ranked 110th out of 160 countries, while Lithuania is significantly safer at 31st. In terms of crime statistics, both countries have similar murder rates, with Belarus at 2.4 and Lithuania at 2.6 per 100,000 people. However, Belarus shows higher rates in specific crime categories, such as state crime (9.0) and human trafficking (7.0), compared to Lithuania's lower scores (4.0 and 3.5, respectively). Overall, while Belarus is not the most dangerous country, it is generally less safe than Lithuania, and tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
