Brazil offers a rich cultural experience and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Syrians. Its diverse attractions, including famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, contribute to its tourism appeal. However, it may only attract a segment of the 21 million Syrian population.
Brazil is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Syria, despite its own challenges. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil ranks 129th out of 160 countries, while Syria is ranked 153rd. In terms of murder rates, Brazil has a significantly higher rate at 22.5 per 100,000 people compared to Syria's 2.2. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Brazil faces issues with organized crime, with a mafia group index of 7.5 and a crime networks index of 6.5. In contrast, Syria has higher indices for state crime (10.0) and crime networks (9.0), indicating a more severe situation there. While Brazil has its own safety concerns, particularly related to violent crime, it is relatively safer for tourists than Syria, which faces more severe instability and crime issues. Tourists from Syria should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions when visiting Brazil.
