Brazil offers a rich array of cultural experiences and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Panamanian travelers. With 400,000 Panamanians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Brazil's diverse attractions, including its famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, particularly enticing.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists coming from Panama. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil ranks 129th out of 160 countries, while Panama is ranked 94th, indicating that Brazil is less safe overall. In terms of crime statistics, Brazil has a higher murder rate of 22.5 per 100,000 people compared to Panama's 12.7. Additionally, the rates of female murders are also higher in Brazil (3.5) than in Panama (2.0). The Global Organized Crime Index shows that both countries have similar scores for mafia groups (7.5), but Brazil scores lower in several areas, indicating more significant issues with organized crime, including state crime (8.5) and drug trade (cocaine trade scored 9.0 for Brazil compared to 8.5 for Panama). Overall, while Brazil has many attractions, tourists should remain vigilant and informed about safety issues.
