Brazil offers a rich array of vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some of Cabo Verde's population of approximately 1 million. Its well-developed tourism infrastructure supports a variety of attractions, including famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, enhancing its attractiveness for visitors from Cabo Verde.
Brazil's safety for tourists, including those from Cabo Verde, presents some concerns. The Global Peace Index ranks Brazil 129th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively low level of safety. In terms of crime statistics, Brazil has a significantly higher murder rate of 22.5 per 100,000 people compared to Cabo Verde's 6.5. Additionally, while female murder rates are similar (3.5 in Brazil vs. 3.3 in Cabo Verde), Brazil faces greater challenges with organized crime. The Global Organized Crime Index shows Brazil scoring poorly in various categories: mafia groups (7.5), crime networks (6.5), and state crime (8.5), compared to Cabo Verde's better scores (2.5, 4.0, and 4.0, respectively). Overall, while Brazil offers rich cultural experiences, tourists should remain vigilant and informed about safety concerns.
