Burkina Faso offers a unique appeal for adventurous Brazilian travelers, thanks to its diverse cultural heritage and intrinsic attractions. While it sees relatively low global tourist traffic, the country may attract a segment of the 10.6 million Brazilians who travel abroad annually, making it a potential destination for those seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences.
Burkina Faso presents certain safety concerns for tourists, especially when compared to Brazil. According to the Global Peace Index, Burkina Faso is ranked 146th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower level of safety than Brazil, which ranks 129th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Burkina Faso is significantly lower at 1.3 per 100,000 people compared to Brazil's 22.5. However, organized crime indices suggest that Brazil faces more challenges with mafia groups and state crime, scoring higher in these areas (7.5 and 8.5 respectively) compared to Burkina Faso's scores of 3.5 and 6.5. Overall, while Burkina Faso has a lower murder rate, the overall safety environment may be less stable than in Brazil. Travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation before visiting.
