Belgium offers a rich cultural heritage and modern attractions, making it an appealing destination for some of the 28 million people in Cameroon. Its historical significance, architectural beauty, and vibrant cities like Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp contribute to its attractiveness for visitors.
Belgium is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Cameroon. According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium ranks 16th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. In contrast, Cameroon ranks 135th, suggesting that Belgium is significantly safer. However, when it comes to walking alone at night, Belgium ranks 39th among 40 European countries, which indicates some concerns in specific areas. In terms of crime statistics, Belgium has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Cameroon’s 4.5. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Belgium performs better than Cameroon in various crime categories, including state crime and organized crime. Overall, while there are some safety considerations, Belgium remains a safer destination for tourists compared to Cameroon.
