Bangladesh presents an intriguing option for some Thai travelers, thanks to its lush landscapes and diverse cultural experiences. Although it currently ranks lower in global tourist arrivals, it is gradually gaining attention. With 10.4 million Thais traveling abroad annually, a portion may find the authentic cultural and natural attractions of Bangladesh appealing.
Bangladesh is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Bangladesh ranks 91st out of 160 countries, while Thailand is ranked 73rd. The murder rate in Bangladesh is lower at 2.4 per 100,000 people compared to Thailand's 4.9, indicating relatively lower violent crime rates. However, the Global Organized Crime Index suggests that Bangladesh faces significant challenges, particularly in human trafficking (8.0) and state crime (7.0), which are higher than Thailand's scores in those categories.
