Zimbabwe offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Senegalese travelers. While recent foreign visitor numbers have declined, attractions like Victoria Falls and the historical site of Great Zimbabwe showcase its diverse tourism potential, appealing to a segment of Senegal's 17 million population.
Zimbabwe's safety for tourists, including those from Senegal, is a concern. According to the Global Peace Index, Zimbabwe ranks 119th out of 160 countries, indicating it is less safe than Senegal, which ranks 82nd. In terms of crime statistics, Zimbabwe has a murder rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people, significantly higher than Senegal's rate of 0.3. Additionally, Zimbabwe faces challenges with organized crime, scoring higher on various indices compared to Senegal. For example, Zimbabwe has a state crime score of 8.0, while Senegal's is 4.5. Overall, while tourists can visit Zimbabwe, they should remain vigilant and informed about local safety conditions.
