Zimbabwe offers a rich blend of cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Nigerian travelers. While there has been a recent drop in foreign visitor numbers, attractions like Victoria Falls and the historical site of Great Zimbabwe highlight its diverse tourism appeal. As a result, it could attract a segment of Nigeria's large population of 219 million.
Zimbabwe is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Nigeria. According to the Global Peace Index, Zimbabwe ranks 119th out of 160 countries, while Nigeria ranks 144th. The murder rate in Zimbabwe is significantly lower at 6.1 per 100,000 people compared to Nigeria's 22.0. In terms of organized crime, Zimbabwe scores better in several categories: mafia groups (3.5 vs. 5.5), crime networks (7.5 vs. 9.0), human trafficking (5.5 vs. 7.5), and drug trafficking, particularly for cocaine (3.0 vs. 6.5). While no destination is without risks, tourists from Nigeria may find Zimbabwe to be a relatively safer option for travel.
