Key attractions like Victoria Falls and the historical site of Great Zimbabwe highlight its diverse tourism potential. Although foreign visitor numbers have recently declined, the country still holds significant appeal for a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population.
Zimbabwe's safety for tourists, including those from Malaysia, is a concern. The Global Peace Index ranks Zimbabwe 119th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Malaysia, which ranks 10th. In terms of crime statistics, Zimbabwe has a murder rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Malaysia's low rate of 0.7. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Zimbabwe faces challenges with organized crime, scoring lower in several categories compared to Malaysia.
