Zimbabwe offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some South Korean travelers. Although foreign visitor numbers have recently decreased, attractions like Victoria Falls and Great Zimbabwe highlight its tourism potential. With 4.3 million Koreans traveling abroad annually, there is a possibility that a segment of this population may be drawn to visit Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe's safety for tourists, particularly those from South Korea, presents some concerns. According to the Global Peace Index, Zimbabwe ranks 119th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than South Korea's 45th position. The murder rate in Zimbabwe is notably higher, at 6.1 per 100,000 people, compared to South Korea's 0.5. In terms of organized crime, Zimbabwe has higher indices in several categories, such as crime networks (7.5) and state crime (8.0), indicating a more challenging environment for safety. While some areas in Zimbabwe may be safe for tourists, it is advisable for travelers to remain vigilant and informed about local conditions.
