Key attractions like Victoria Falls and the historical site of Great Zimbabwe enhance its appeal. Although there has been a recent decrease in foreign visitors, the country's diverse tourism options could attract a segment of Ghana's 33 million population.
Zimbabwe presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Ghana. According to the Global Peace Index, Zimbabwe ranks 119th out of 160 countries, while Ghana is significantly safer at 54th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Zimbabwe is 6.1 per 100,000 people, which is notably higher than Ghana's rate of 1.8. Additionally, female murder rates are also higher in Zimbabwe (1.9) compared to Ghana (0.6). The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that while both countries face challenges with organized crime, Zimbabwe generally has worse scores in several categories, including state crime (8.0 for Zimbabwe vs. 7.5 for Ghana) and crime networks (7.5 for Zimbabwe vs. 6.5 for Ghana).
