Zambia is an appealing destination for some Indian travelers, thanks to its stunning natural attractions like Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. With 8.6 million Indians traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in exploring Zambia's unique cultural and natural offerings.
Zambia is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from India. According to the Global Peace Index, Zambia ranks 55th out of 160 countries, which is significantly better than India's ranking of 114th. In terms of crime statistics, Zambia has a murder rate of 5.4 per 100,000 people, compared to India's rate of 2.9. While Zambia's murder rate is higher, it is important to consider the broader context of safety. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Zambia has lower indices in several crime categories compared to India, particularly in organized crime and human smuggling. For instance, Zambia scores 3.0 for mafia groups and 4.0 for arms trafficking, while India scores 3.5 and 5.5, respectively. Overall, while there are some safety concerns, Zambia is generally safer for tourists compared to India based on these indices and rankings. Travelers are advised to take standard precautions, as they would in any foreign country.
