Yemen offers a rich historical and cultural experience, making it appealing to some Ugandan travelers. Despite facing challenges, its unique landscapes and storied past could attract a segment of Uganda's 47 million population interested in exploring such destinations.
Yemen is currently considered very unsafe for tourists, including those from Uganda. According to the Global Peace Index, Yemen ranks last globally at 160th, while Uganda ranks 124th. Although Yemen's murder rate is lower at 6.8 per 100,000 people compared to Uganda's 8.5, the overall safety environment is significantly more dangerous. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights serious concerns in Yemen, with high scores indicating worse conditions in areas such as mafia presence (8.0), crime networks (7.0), and human trafficking (8.5). In contrast, Uganda has lower scores in these categories, suggesting a relatively safer environment for tourists. Overall, due to the high levels of organized crime and instability, Yemen is not a safe destination for tourists from Uganda.
