Yemen offers a unique appeal for Turkish visitors due to its rich history and stunning landscapes. While the country faces various challenges, it can attract a segment of the 2.7 million Turks who travel abroad annually, as some may be drawn to explore its cultural heritage.
Yemen is currently considered unsafe for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to the Global Peace Index, Yemen ranks 160th out of 160 countries, indicating a very high level of insecurity. In contrast, Türkiye ranks 137th in the same index, suggesting a relatively safer environment. Crime statistics further illustrate this disparity. Yemen has a murder rate of 6.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Türkiye's much lower rate of 2.5. Additionally, both countries have similar scores for organized crime, but Yemen generally scores worse in various categories, including human trafficking and drug trade.
