Yemen offers a unique appeal for Italian travelers interested in history and culture, despite its challenges. With 12.4 million Italians traveling abroad annually, a segment of this population may find Yemen an intriguing destination worth exploring.
Yemen is currently considered unsafe for tourists, including those coming from Italy. While Italy ranks 34th in safety among European countries, Yemen ranks last globally at 160th according to the Global Peace Index. The murder rate in Yemen is significantly higher at 6.8 per 100,000 people compared to Italy's 0.5. Additionally, crime indices indicate that Yemen faces serious challenges with organized crime and human trafficking. Given these factors, it is advisable for tourists to avoid traveling to Yemen for their safety.
