Yemen offers a unique appeal for some Cypriot travelers, thanks to its rich history and stunning landscapes. Despite facing various challenges, it could attract a portion of the 500,000 Cypriots who travel abroad annually.
Yemen is considered very unsafe for tourists, including those coming from Cyprus. According to the Global Peace Index, Yemen ranks 160th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of violence and instability, while Cyprus ranks 86th, reflecting a much safer environment. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Yemen is significantly higher at 6.8 per 100,000 people compared to Cyprus's 1.3. Additionally, various organized crime indices show that Yemen scores poorly across multiple categories, such as mafia groups (Yemen 8.0 vs. Cyprus 3.5) and human trafficking (Yemen 8.5 vs. Cyprus 5.5). Overall, the safety conditions in Yemen are far less favorable than in Cyprus, making it a risky destination for tourists.
