Yemen offers a unique appeal for Cuban travelers due to its rich history and stunning landscapes. While the country faces challenges, it could attract a portion of the 300,000 Cubans who travel internationally each year, particularly those interested in exploring its cultural heritage.
Yemen is currently considered very unsafe for tourists, including those from Cuba. According to the Global Peace Index, Yemen ranks 160th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of insecurity compared to Cuba, which ranks 96th. In terms of crime statistics, Yemen has a murder rate of 6.8 per 100,000 people, while Cuba's rate is significantly lower at 5.0. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights Yemen's challenges, with high scores in various crime categories: mafia groups (8.0), crime networks (7.0), and foreign crime (8.0), compared to Cuba's much lower scores in these areas. Overall, the safety conditions in Yemen are considerably worse than in Cuba, making it a risky destination for tourists.
