Vietnam presents a compelling option for Colombian travelers, showcasing rich landscapes and a vibrant culture. Although foreign tourist numbers are currently low due to recent global disruptions, the country's tourism infrastructure is well-developed and poised for growth. With approximately 3 million Colombians traveling internationally each year, a segment of this population may find Vietnam an appealing destination.
Vietnam is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Colombia. According to the Global Peace Index, Vietnam ranks 41st out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety, especially compared to Colombia, which ranks 143rd. In terms of crime statistics, Vietnam has a significantly lower murder rate of 1.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Colombia's 27.5. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Vietnam scores better in various categories related to organized crime, such as arms trafficking (Vietnam: 4.0 vs. Colombia: 8.0) and the cocaine trade (Vietnam: 4.0 vs. Colombia: 9.5). Overall, tourists from Colombia can expect a safer environment in Vietnam compared to their home country.
